ANTIBIOTIC, CHEMICAL AND HORMONE FREE

Aysen Coho is immune to sea lice and the ISA virus due to the strength and tightness of its scales, so chemical treatments are not required. Aysen Coho is a robust fish grown in its natural habitat (Pacific Ocean), permitting us to have a farming process that in most cases does not require antibiotic treatments.

HEALTHY CHOICE

Aysen Coho is an excellent source of Omega-3. One serving of 5 ounces of Aysen Coho provides 2.29 grams of Omega-3 fatty acids and 1.4 grams of EPA and DHA Omega-3 fatty acids. Supportive research shows that EPA-DHA may contribute to the maintenance of normal vision and brain-function and may prevent coronary heart disease. The American Heart Association recommends eating at least 8 ounces of non-fried fish each week, which may be divided over two 3.5- to 4-ounce servings to obtain essential Omega-3 fatty acids.

GREAT FLAVOR AND COLOR

Aysén Coho is similar to wild sockeye with an intense and unique red color. This is due to the natural absorption of color that Coho has, which is greater than Atlantic salmon and other salmon species. Aysén Coho has a mildr flavor and is less fishy than other salmon species.

FRESHER CHOICE

Aysen Coho is processed within eight hours of harvest providing for the highest standard in biosecurity from our farms to the final consumer. Fresh salmon from overseas is sometimes reprocessed more than 48 hours after leaving the primary processing plant, and arrives to the consumer more than 72 hours after leaving the plant, increasing exposure to biological risks and diminishing its quality.

SUSTAINABLE CHOICE

Aysen Coho is grown in half the time than Atlantic salmon, resulting in much less environmental impact. Moreover, it is transported by ship, with a carbon footprint 83% lower than fresh salmon transported by plane. Airfreight represents half of the CO2 emissions for fresh salmon flown from Chile to the USA market. Aysen Coho has a feed conversion rate of 1.08 making it the most efficient protein in the world.

CERTIFICATIONS

Our commitment to the environment and our communities, together with the highest-standard farming protocols, are validated by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certifications. Ewos (Cargill)has awarded Salmones Aysén its “Best Site Award” during the last nine years recognizing our outstanding performance.

SASHIMI QUALITY

Sashimi Quality indicates the ability of Aysen Coho to be eaten raw. It comes from the “sashimi grade” Japanese concept which is based on the safety of the harvest and processing of the fish. Our Coho is processed in an isolated bio secure room that maintains a constant specific temperature, and it is frozen within 8 hours of harvest, ensuring the safety of the final product.
