Small changes are key to begin making real change in human behavior as it relates to environmental sustainability. This section identifies some of the projects the company is undertaking to change the way we conduct business.
We recycle the plastics used in our farms, delivering this plastic to companies such as Mundo sur and Quo-Chile.
From the food waste generated by the people living in the farms, we produce compost for donation to local communities for use as fertilizer.
We collect oil waste at our farms and give it to a local company for reuse.
In conjunction with the Chilean Salmon Council, Salmones Aysén has begun a program in which the company takes responsibility for the cleaning of certain beaches that have been impacted by local waste and pollution.
We are working with a local gas company to convert all of our farms’ energy from oil to gas, and for the first time we are exploring methods to make two farms carbon neutral.
Salmones Aysén cages are being reused in different construction projects, including barnyards, barns and piers.
